Alloy Wheel & Rim Repairs in Toronto

“Wheels are the shoes of your car. They have to look fresh to death.” – Tupac

The design, colour, and state of your wheels can significantly add to the visual appeal & value of your vehicle. Ensuring that your wheels are in excellent condition and are road safe is an important part of vehicle maintenance.

On any given day, your rims are at risk … Potholes, salt, road grime, and other harmful elements can cause flaking, chipping, corrosion as well as bends and cracks that require repair.

Automotive rims are notoriously difficult to maintain, which can cause major complications to a vehicle in motion. Even a high-quality set of OEM rims can be disfigured by an innocuous crack or bend that can become very dangerous to drive on.

RimPerfection offers Alloy Wheel Repair to suit all of its clients’ needs.

Different types of rim damage:

Cosmetic Damage: Curb Rash!

Have you or a loved one ever parked a little too close to the curb and caused damage to your rim? This type of damage looks terrible, can affect the value of your vehicle at resale, and may cause a flat tire over time if left un-repaired. Curb rash repair is a service RimPerfection offers in its state of the art repair facility or its fully enclosed mobile units.

Corrosion and Delamination: Canadian Winter…

Salt, ice-melter, brake dust, and other road chemicals, slowly erode the quality of the seal between your tire and aluminum rim. Over time the seal may need to be repaired to ensure safe driving. RimPerfection always repairs our client’s aluminum rims to ensure a tight seal.

Bent or Cracked Rim

Potholes, Curbs, and other types of road hazards can damage a rim. Bent and cracked rim damages mainly occur at the inner lip of a wheel but can sometimes occur at the spoke, face, or outer lips. Driving with this type of damage is dangerous, and wheels should be repaired or replaced.

Not All Rim Rims Can Be Repaired

RimPerfection uses state of the art technology and experienced wheel repair professionals to assess a rim prior to repair. Often times, a small surface crack is easily welded, sanded, and refinished. However, more extensive damage can affect the brakes, tires, and other parts of the wheel.  In extreme cases, rim repair is not an option, and the wheel needs to be replaced.

The Rim Repair Process

  • The damaged wheels are brought into RimPerfection for an assessment.
  • The rim is removed from the tire and is thoroughly inspected before any repairs. Cracked portions are cleaned and marked, so a proper safety assessment can be made.
  • If the crack is repairable, it is welded and sanded before the next stage.
  • The repaired wheel is then fully stripped of all paint and dirt with a chemical wheel stripping solution, and where necessary, the rim is also sandblasted to ensure a completely clean surface.
  • The paint stripped wheel is then powder coated and sealed to a brand new like finish.
  • The tire is reinstalled, and the wheel is balanced before vehicle installation to ensure a safe drive.

Why Rim Repair?

1. Protection and Durability

The rims of your vehicle receive a high degree of wear and tear. This leads to flaking, chipping, or corrosion issues from salt, road grime, and other outdoor elements that can ultimately damage the wheel.Custom wheel painting creates a non-porous surface that shields the wheels and protects them better than if otherwise left unmaintained.

2. Lower Costs

Custom wheel painting provides coverage and protects the rims reducing maintenance labour & material costs over the lifetime of the vehicle.

3. Fast application and curing process

Powder coated wheel rims are ready to be reinstalled 1 hour after the powder coating  process.

4. Improve Vehicle Aesthetic

Paint can be applied to a variety of metal materials and in a multitude of colours and is an excellent way to bring new-life to an old set of wheels or a new, personalized look & colour to replace factory equipment.
